The Red Dragon tournament, which is the main event of the Macau Poker Cup (MPC), will be kicking off tonight at the PokerStars Macau poker room at the Grand Lisboa Casino.
Day 1A of the Red Dragon is officially scheduled to start at 8:10pm. With the weekend just around the corner, the poker room is filling up with more players in anticipation of the main event.
Those concerned about the late start time of the first flight need not worry, though, as only six levels of play are scheduled for both Day 1s.
Many players have also been participating in the various side events that have been taking place at the PokerStars Macau poker room.
Last night, Roel Pijpers was the big winner in the HK $1,000 buy-in 2-rebuy Charity Tournament. He bested a field of 112 entries to take home HK $45,100 as well as the current number two spot on the PokerStars Macau leaderboard.
Meanwhile, Side Event #3, the $3,000 No Limit 200K Guarantee, attracted 190 to smash the guarantee with a prize pool of HK $570,000. Day 2 of that event will take place today to determine the winner.
Today’s side event, the Deep Stack 100K Guarantee, also exceeded its guarantee as a total of 157 players signed up for the event. The prize pool is HK $235,500.
The Red Dragon main event will be held from March 5 to 7. Buy-in is set at HK $10,000.
