It's getting very late (well some would say early) here at the APPT Manila 2008 Final Table. With well over 12 hours played so far, things are starting to slow down for the broadcast team...
We thought we might finally be at the moment of truth. Van Marcus opened the pot to 130,000 in front of an all-in reraise from Tae Jun Noh. The gallery members rose to their feet expectantly (those that are still awake, anyway) hoping to see an end to the tournament. Marcus considered calling before pitching his cards into the muck, prompting everyone to sit back down.
Tae Jun Noh raised to 130,000, a slight variation on the standard 2x raises which we've seen throughout this heads-up contest, and Van Marcus made the call in the big blind.
The flop landed and Marcus checked to Noh. He made it 100,000 to go which was good to take down the pot.
Every time it seems like Van Marcus might be moving in for the kill, Tae Jun Noh takes back a big pot. Noh limped in, then called a raise to 175,000 from Marcus. Both players checked all the way to the river. With the board showing , Marcus bet 115,000. Noh snap-called and tabled . Marcus pounded the table in frustration, showing one card, the before mucking.
The original plan was for a ten-minute break but the players are feeling fresh, unlike most of the rest of us, and want to keep playing on without a break.
The blinds are now up to 30,000/60,000 with a 10,000 chip ante.
Another 220,000 chips have gone to Van Marcus. He tabled the winning hand, , on a board of . After the hand, he pointed at a napping cameraman and asked "Is he allowed to do that? It's making me jealous!"
Tae Jun Noh raised to 100,00 and Van Marcus made the call.
The board was checekd as it fell until Van Marcus fired 50,000 on the river. Noh paid him off and was shown the for two pair, which was good for Marcus to collect the pot.
