Huge Pot Jung Vs. Pogodin

• Level 21: 6,000-12,000, 2,000 ante
Konstantin Pogodin
Konstantin Pogodin

Sunny Jung opened the action for 26,000 and got a call from Ami Barer. Konstantin Pogodin in the cut-off made it 55,000 and when the remaining players folded Jung made a big raise to 205,000. Barer looked like he was a bit puzzled but mucked his cards. Pogodin took some time to think before calling.

It was heads up to the flop of {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{q-Spades} between the two big stacks. Jung made it 120,000 and Pogodin slid out a raise to 240,000. Jung had a long hard think about what to do before cutting out some chips and raising right back to 410,000. Pogodin checked his stack which was just above 600,000 before declaring all in and Jung instantly mucked his hand.

Pogodin had just won the biggest pot of the tournament and went to the top of the leader board.

Jung Takes Massive Pot From Peng

• Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante

Meng Dian Peng opened the action with a raise from the hijack. Action came over to reigning champion Sunny Jung on the button and he announced a three-bet to 65,000. The blinds folded back to Peng who grabbed a handful of chips and moved them across the betting line for a four-bet to 190,000. Jung called to see a flop.

The dealer fanned {K-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} on the felt and Peng continued out for 195,000. Jung thought for a brief moment before moving out a call. The {9-Spades} dropped down on fourth and Peng slowed down with a check. Jung checked it back and the {7-Hearts} completed the board. Peng instantly checked for a second time, giving Jung the opportunity to move out a final bet of 225,000. Peng flung his cards at the muck and Jung was awarded the pot.

With this victory, Jung has extended his chip lead to about 1.9 million.

Peng Piles Pressure On Zhu

• Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante

Yaxi Zhu was in the small blind and had reached the turn of a board reading {2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Meng Dian Peng had opened the action from the button and he called a bet of 70,000 from Zhu.

The {10-Diamonds} came on the river and Zhu continued for 100,000. “Raise.” Peng announced and made it 250,000. Zhu riffled her chips and gave him a long cold stare but laid it down.

Jorn Walthaus Eliminated in 15th Place (HK$338,000)

• Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante

After coming out on the wrong side of a confrontation with Vladimir Troyanovskiy just two hands earlier, we found Jorn Walthaus open-ship all in from the hijack for his last 63,000. Joseph Cheong called from the cutoff and the rest of the table folded.

Cheong showed {A-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and needed to improve against Walthaus' {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} in order to score the elimination. The flop came out clean for Walthaus, falling {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. The {K-Clubs} on fourth street meant that Cheong needed an ace or a trey on the river in order to score the elimination.

Walthaus' fate changed that instant as the {A-Diamonds} finished off the board, giving Cheong top pair for the elimination. Walthaus collected HK$338,000 and Cheong brought his stack up to 465,000.

Jung Involved Again

• Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante

Meng Dian Peng opened for 22,000 and Sunny Jung raised to 61,000. Ami Barer then cold-four bet to 127,000 and when Peng folded Jung made the call.

The flop was {10-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Jung led out for 110,000 which Barer called. The turn brought the {a-Spades} and now both players checked. The river card {3-Diamonds} saw Jung forlornly check and then fold when Barer bet 89,000.

Walthaus Doubles Through Lukashaugen

• Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante

Ronald Chun Long Yu started the action with a middle position raise to 20,000. Action came around to Tore Lukashaugen in the small blind and he three-bet the action to 55,000. Jorn Walthaus was in the big blind and he wasted little time four-bet shipping for 132,000 total. Yu folded and Lukashaugen plopped out a call.

Lukashaugen: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Walthaus: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The dealer fanned a {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop, putting three hearts on the board and giving Walthaus the opportunity to draw at a higher flush. That draw came through on the turn, as the {2-Hearts} hit the felt and Walthaus was guaranteed a double up. The {3-Clubs} completed the board and Walthaus was pushed the pot.

Dimitar Danchev Eliminated In 16th Place (HK$ 338,000)

Dimitar Danchev - 16th Place

Sunny Jung opened the action for 24,000 and got a call from Konstantin Pogodin. Dimitar Danchev then raised to 72,000.

Jung asked to see his stack before raising to 200,000. Pogodin then folded and after a brief pause Danchev moved all in. Jung got an exact count and took his time before making the call to put Danchev at risk.

Danchev had {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} and Jung the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

An emphatic final board of {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades}{a-Spades} gave Danchev outs on the turn but it was not to be and the steady stream of exits continued.
