The Last of the Kings

Aura Asilo

Aura Asilo has just knocked out July Macau Poker Cup champion Kenichi Takarabe after a wild pre-flop sequence.

It started early as the UTG player raised to 1,400. Action went over to Kenichi, who shoved all-in for his last 6,600 in chips. Stephen Lim, who was next to act, made the call, only to have seatmate Aura go all-in as well for her remaining stack of about 15,000!

The UTG then made the fold, and Stephen agonized over his decision before finally folding {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} face up. With Aura and Kenichi as the only two left in the hand, the cards were tabled:

Aura: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Kenichi: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The flop and turn blanked as they came {5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Clubs} but the table reacted loudly as the river brought the {k-Clubs} to give Aura top pair and knock Kenichi out of the tournament.

As the dealer sent the chips in Aura's direction, the table was abuzz. Apparently, the UTG player had folded {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}, and with Stephen open-folding {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}, that meant that the king on the river was the only one remaining in the deck.

She is now at about 27,000.
