Putt Eliminated, Tyler Advances to Quarter Finals

Putt (during Main Event): busto
Putt (during Main Event): busto
Moments after Bruno Portaro was sent to the rail, Graeme Putt moved the last of his money on a flop that read {2-?}{6-?}{7-?} with {a-?}{k-?} but was snapped off by Josh Tyler who tabled {q-?}{2-?} for bottom pair.

The turn and river came running tens, improving Tyler's hand to two pair and defeating Putt 2-0.

Tyler will meet either Eugene Katchalov or Andrew Lichtenberger in the quarter finals.

Portaro Eliminated, Tezay Advances to Quarter Finals

Portaro (during Main Event): eliminated
Portaro (during Main Event): eliminated
The first of the Round 2 matches has been played out - Bruno Portaro was eliminated by Aytunc Tezay two games to one.

In the final hand of the third leg, Portaro moved the last of his money into the middle with {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} but Tezay woke up with pocket jacks.

The board was spread {j-?}{5-?}{7-?}{8-?}{5-?}, sending Portaro to the rail and Tezay into the quarter finals, where he will meet the winner of the match between Jamie Pickering and Martin Gudvangen.

Burd, Pickering, Katchalov Advance

Recent Eliminations

Josh Tyler has now started his Round 2 match with Graeme 'Kiwi G' Putt after defeating Stefan Huber 2-1.

DeucesCracked's Aaron Wilt lost 2-1 against Dan Smith, but fellow tutorVanessa Selbst won in straight sets against Yngve Steen and is due to meet Kyle Cheong who also won 2-0 in his first round match against Emmanuel Seal.

Cheong got his money into the middle with {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, dominating Seal's {j-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Seal was sent to the rail when the board ran out {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

Bruno Portaro has also advanced to Round 2, winning 2-1 against Sammy Youssef. Fellow Aussie George Moussa has also progressed, eliminating America's Andrew Brown 2-1.

Brown ran his {a-?}{j-?} into Moussa's pocket eights in the final hand of his third game and lost the flip - chalk up another one for the Aussies!

Barry Woods Advances to Round 2!

Woods (during Main Event): advances to Round 2
Woods (during Main Event): advances to Round 2
Grant Levy's Australia Day has turned sour after being eliminated by Barry Woods in straight sets.

On a flop that read {8-?}{5-Spades}{9-Spades}, Grant Levy moved the last of his money into the middle with {a-?}{k-?}, only to be called down by Woods who tables {j-Spades}{8-Spades}.

The turn was a {j-?} and the river was the {3-Spades} - take it any which way you like - Levy is busto and Woods moves on.

Kyle Cheong: 1 vs. Emmanuel Seal: 0

Kyle Cheong has managed to take a 1-0 lead in his match against Emmanuel 'Curly' Seal after managing to hit a king on the board holding {k-?}{4-?} against Seal's {a-?}{j-?}.

DeucesCracked Duo Still Alive

Vanessa Selbst: 1 vs. Yngve Steen: 0

Vanessa Selbst has the upper hand in her Round 1 clash against Yngve Steen after her {8-?}{7-?} hit a straight on the flop of {j-?}{10-?}{9-?} against Steen's {10-?}{5-?}.

Aaron Wilt: 1 vs. Dan Smith: 1

We also passed by Aaron Wilt's table and had a quick chat to him and he explained that they were locked at one game apiece.

"Right now, in this third game, Dan (Smith) is crushing me," he laughed.

George Moussa: 0 vs. Andrew Brown: 1

We caught the action as George Moussa moved the last of his money into the middle with {k-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and found himself ahead of Andrew Brown who tabled {k-Spades}{2-Spades}.

However the board was spread {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, giving Brown a runner-runner straight and the early lead!

The advantage of the heads-up competition is that the tables are individually timed, so it was only fitting that Brown and Moussa took a traditional Aussie 'smoko.'
