The Blom Bomber KO's Kenney

Bryn Kenney - All in and all out
Bryn Kenney - All in and all out

First in from middle position, Viktor "Islidur1" Blom made a minimum raise to 10,000, and Bryn Kenney three-bet to 26,000 on the button. "Raise," Blom announced, stacking out 62,000 total. Kenney took pause to consider, then announced a shove for about 235,000 total. Blom snap-called, and the look of pain on Kenney's face told the rest of the story.

Blom: {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}
Kenney: {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}

Kenney was looking for an ace, but he'd find none. The board ran out {K-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {4-Spades} {6-Spades} {2-Diamonds}, and Blom earns the knockout to pip up into the Top 5 with 19 players left.

Hall Doubles, Sands on Life Support

David "Doc" Sands opened to 9,500 from the hijack seat, Galen Hall called from the cutoff, and Isaac Haxton called on the button. The flop fell {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Spades}, and Sands led for 16,500. Hall called, Haxton mucked, and the turn brought the {q-Diamonds}. Sands led again - this time for 34,500 - and Hall moved all in for 200,500. Sands tank-called, leaving just 27,000 behind, and was dominated.

Sands: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Hall: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

The {a-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing, and Hall doubled.

Galen Hall 443,500 159,500
David Sands 27,000 -303,000

Here Comes Mercier

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Here comes Jason Mercier, as he just moved his stack up to about 590,000 after these two short hands.

On the first hand, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier raised to 8,000 from middle position before action folded to Sam Stein. He reraised to 19,500. Play folded to Mercier in the big blind. He tanked for a bit and then reraised to 46,500. Grospellier quickly folded, but Stein went into the tank. After a couple minutes, he gave it up and Mercier won the pot.

On the next hand, action folded to Jonathan Duhamel on the button and he raised to 8,500. Mercier three-bet to 21,500 from the small blind and Duhamel called.

The flop came down {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Mercier fired 16,500. Duhamel folded and Mercier won the pot. He's now near 600,000 in chips.

Jonathan Duhamel 750,000 -15,000
Jason Mercier 590,000 88,000

Smith: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Spades}, giving the pot and the chip lead to Haxton.

Kenney's Queens

With the elimination of Eugene Katchalov, Bryn Kenney is now at Table 2, and he doubled in his first hand. Yevgeniy Timoshenko opened to 9,000 from early position, and Kenney three-bet to 23,000 from the big blind. Timoshenko four-bet shoved for effectively 139,000, and Kenney thought for a moment before making the call.

Timoshenko: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Kenney: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The {10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{j-Spades} flop gave Timoshenko a pair, and the {k-Spades} on the turn added a flush draw, but the {k-Clubs} on the river was a brick, and Kenney doubled to over 280,000 chips.

Yevgeniy Timoshenko 291,000 -124,000
Bryn Kenney 283,000 177,000

Eugene Katchalov won't be repeating as Super High Roller Champion.

Yevgeniy Timoshenko raised to 9,000 in the cutoff and Eugene Katchalov three-bet from the small blind to what looked to be 18,000. With the action back to Timoshenko, he re-raised all in after about a minute in the tank and Katchlov called all in for another 114,000 after a few moments.

Katchalov: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}
Timoshenko: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

"Big Blind Special", or "Running Like Seidel"

It appears that Erik Seidel's 2011 run-good hasn't washed away yet in the new year.

In the last hand, David Benefield opened with a raise in late position, and Seidel defended his big blind to see a heads-up flop.

It came {4-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}, but it wasn't nearly as raggy as it first appeared. Seidel checked to the raiser, and Benefield continued out with a bet of 12,000. The check-raise came, though, and Seidel made it 26,500 total. Benefield popped it right back to 44,000 total, and Seidel made it 85,000. Now Benefield had only one play left, and he shoved in for about 175,000 total. When Seidel called, the cards were on their backs, and it was quite an ugly sight for the at-risk player.

Benefield: {A-Clubs} {3-Hearts}
Seidel: {3-Clubs} {6-Hearts}

Oof! Benefield could only shake his head at the cooler of a flop, and he was drawing dead to a chop. The turn and river came {J-Clubs} and {J-Spades}, though, and that's the end of the road for Mr. Benefield.

Seidel, on the other hand, is once again in contention for the chip lead with about 730,000 chips.

Dan Shak was all in preflop for 139,500 with the {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}. He was up against Viktor Blom holding the {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. The board ran out {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Shak doubled up.

Viktor Blom 312,000 -71,000
Dan Shak 285,000 133,000
