Matt Glantz opened to 8,000 from under the gun, Mike "Timex" McDonald three-bet to 23,500 from the small blind, and Glantz called. The flop came , and McDonald led for 25,500. Glantz raised to 56,500, and McDonald tank-called.
The turn was the , and McDonald thought for a bit before checking. Glantz fired 76,000, sending McDonald deep into the tank. He stared at Glantz for quite some time, then asked him what he had behind.
"Ninety-five," Glantz answered.
McDonald tanked a little longer, then moved all in. Glantz snap-mucked, and McDonald raked in the pot, showing the .
When we walked up to Table 2, Shawn Buchanan had 55,500 chips out in front of him on a four-bet, and Yevgeniy Timoshenko had five-bet shoved for 130,500 from the small blind. By now, Buchanan was hating life, and he made sure of the amount before making the crying call for nearly all his own chips.
Buchanan needed to see a lot of red or a nine in a hurry in order to earn the knockout, but his outs would miss. Timoshenko's overpair held on the board, and he smashes the double to bounce back over his starting stack.
For Buchanan, things have gone south in a hurry. He's left with just 30,500 chips and a frown, and Bucky won't be able to wait long before committing that remainder.
Don't call it a comeback! On the last hand before the break, we watched Daniel Negreanu fight his way back above his starting stack for the first time in a long time. Three players (including Kid Poker) checked through a flop, and the turn drew a bet of 12,000 from David Benefield. Only Negreanu had the goods to continue, and his raise to 37,000 forced out the monkey in the middle. Benefield called, though, and the filled out the board. Negreanu bet 72,000 at the pot, and Benefield made a reluctant call.
The appeared in front of Negreanu, and Benefield tucked and mucked.
Chance Kornuth opened to 6,500 in middle position and Dave Sands called from the big blind.
The flop fell and Sands check-called 9,500 from Kornuth, delivering the on the turn. Another check-call came from Sands, this time for 22,000. The river was the and Sands checked for a third time. Kornuth announced all in after a few moments and Sands called quickly with for a straight. Kornuth flashed for a set of tens, but watched as the pot was pushed to Sands.
