Tournament Champion Sae Jin Lee (L) with RWM Asst. VP Casino Table Games - Mr. Hakan Dagtas (R)
After three days of intense poker action, we have a champion here at the Resorts World Manila Inaugural Poker Championships!
Sae Jin Lee went into heads up battle against fellow Korean Jeon Seung Soo with a commanding chip lead. Despite Jeon's efforts to even their stacks, Sae Jin's solid play secured him the title.
Sae Jin outlasted a field of 269 players that included both notable names from the international and local poker scene.
He reached the final table with the sixth biggest stack. Capitalizing with good cards and well-timed aggression, Sae Jin Lee was able to take home the coveted PhP 860,800 and Championship Trophy. Included in the championship package is a one-night stay at the six star Maxims Hotel courtesy of host Resorts World Manila.
Congratulations to Sae Jin Lee, champion of the Resorts World Manila Inaugural Poker Championships!
From Resorts World Manila, we are signing off. See you all from our next event!
Jeon Seung Soo has been eliminated at Second Place with PhP 457,300 and a complimentary one-night stay at the Maxims Hotel courtesy of the Resorts World Manila.
Jeon raised to 100,000 pre-flop then Sae Jin Lee re-raised all-in. Jeon tanked for a few seconds and finally decided to call.
When both players turned their cards over, Jeon was dismayed to see his pocket treys dominated by Sae's wired eights.
The board was of no help to Jeon and gave us our runner up.
With the elimination of Eric Cheung from the final table. we are left with two Koreans to battle it out to be the First Champion of the Resorts World Manila Inaugural Poker Championships.
Jeon Seung Soo pushed all-in on the button and Eric Cheung instantly called. When both players showed their hands, Eric felt aghast seeing Jeon's better wired eights over his pocket sevens.
The board was splitting the pot between both players.
