Event #11: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em

Hamilton vs Hakim

Scott Hamilton was all in for his last 65,000 chips and Jeff "YoungSupremacy" Hakim was his only contender.

Hamilton {K-Spades}{9-Spades}
Hakim: {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}

Hakim's deuces were in trouble after the flop fell {7-Spades}{8-Spades}{A-Clubs}, and they were drawing dead after the turn brought the {4-Spades}. The {5-Clubs} on the river was but a formality, and Hamilton doubled to 153,000 chips.

Hakim dropped down to 346,000 chips.

Fernandez Flips a Coin

Under the gun, Jacobo Fernandez open-shoved for just over 70,000 total. Yat Cheng made the call from middle position, and the race for Fernandez's tournament life was on:

Fernandez: {9-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}
Cheng: {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}

The flop was a good miss for Fernandez as it rolled out {Q-Hearts} {3-Spades} {J-Spades} to give him another eight outs at his straight draw. The {10-Diamonds} on the turn was a great card and a pair to pull him into the lead, and the river {8-Spades} looked scary at first, but it filled Fernandez's straight and secured his double up to 158,000.

Cheng is down to a still-healthy 203,000.

Julius With an Ace in the Hole

Kyle Julius opened to 17,000 and James Harver three-bet all in for 63,000. Julius called and the hands were tabled:

Julius: {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Harver: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

The {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop gave Julius the advantage and Harver couldn't find the last nine on either the turn or the river sending him to the rail. Julius is still alive and well with 460,000 chips.

Dwan Claims Another Victim

Under the gun and short-stacked, an unknown (and now irrelevant) player moved all in for about 60,000 total. Dwan made an isolating reraise, and he got himself heads up with a chance at another knockout.

Dwan: {9-Clubs} {9-Spades}
Opponent: {6-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}

There was no funny stuff on the board that came {2-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {2-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {K-Spades}, and that's another player out to Dwan. He's up close to 750,000 now and really starting to tighten the screws on his table.

Um, a New Chip Leader Emerges...

Amnon Filippi opened with a raise, Tom Dwan three-bet, Filippi four-bet, and "durrrr" five-bet shoved. Filippi made the call, putting himself all in, and putting a huge pot in the middle of the table. The news was not at all what Dwan was hoping for:

Filippi: {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}
Dwan: {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs}

The flop, however, was just what the durrrr ordered. It came out {10-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}, binking his two-outer and pulling him into a huge lead in the hand with two to come.

The {4-Clubs} on fourth street put Filippi one foot out the door, and the {A-Hearts} river ushered him off to the payout desk with a big frown to keep him company.

Filippi's out, and Dwan has exploded to the top of the chip counts with an impressive 642,000 chips.

Diamonds for Durrrr

With the board reading {4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{J-Spades}{K-Diamonds}, Tom "durrrr" Dwan led for 26,000 and Alex Bolotin called.

The river brought the {7-Diamonds}, and again Dwan led, but for 62,500 this time. Bolotin called and quickly mucked when Dwan opened {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a rivered flush.

Dwan is up to 270,000 chips while Bolotin is down to 200,000

Huffman Can't Fade Durrrr

On the very next hand, Kyle Huffman got his 32,000-chip remainder into the pot with {A-Spades} {9-Clubs} preflop. Tom Dwan looked him up with {A-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}, and the situation was favorable for Huffman to earn his first double and start climbing back into this thing.

Everything was still rosy through the turn as the first four community cards came {J-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {10-Clubs}. Dwan works pretty well with two outs, though, and the {4-Spades} peeled off the deck on fifth street to give him the pot and the knockout.

Huffman has been eliminated, and Dwan surges to 252,000.

Bolotin Sitting Pretty

Alex Bolotin got his chips all in on a flop of {4-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {9-Clubs} with {9-Spades} {9-Diamonds}, and he had a hammer lock on a double up as Kyle Huffman sheepishly tabled {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}.

The {Q-Spades} on the turn locked up the pot, and the {10-Spades} river spelled a big double up for Bolotin. He's up to 290,000, twice as nice as before. Huffman is left with just 32,000.
