Gavin Calls, Collects

Shamus
Gavin Smith
Gavin Smith

No-Limit

The table folded around to Gavin Smith who completed from the small blind, then Jarred Solomon raised to 20,000 from the big blind. Smith called, and the flop came {5-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. Smith checked, Solomon bet 31,000, and Smith quickly called. Both then checked the {3-Clubs} turn.

The river brought the {4-Clubs}. Smith checked, and Solomon fired 44,000. Smith didn't wait long to call, tabling {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs} for a club flush. Solomon folded, his hand -- {A-Spades}{10-} -- briefly visible as he did.

Smith increases his chip lead on that one, moving close to 800,000 while Solomon slips to about 550,000.

Shamus
Mike Santoro - 9th place
Mike Santoro - 9th place

Limit

Mike Santoro raised from the cutoff, and it folded to Michael Michnik who made it three bets from the big blind. Santoro called with his last chips, and the cards were tabled.

Michnik {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Santoro {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, and Santoro was still ahead but only precariously so. The {8-Spades} on the turn then paired Michnik, and the {5-Spades} river meant we had our first elimination.

Michnik now has about 530,000.

A Lot of Raising Going On

Limit

From the cutoff, Daniel Idema raised. Mike Santoro reraised from the button and both blinds released. Idema made the call and the flop came down {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

Idema check-raised Santoro's bet. Santoro answered that with a raise himself and not to be outdone, Idema reraised. Santoro made the call and the turn brought the {9-Clubs}.

Idema tossed in a bet, and that was enough to get Santoro to fold.
