The players are on their last 20-minute break of the night.

Solomon Wisely Calls

Jarred Solomon
Jarred Solomon

Dan Idema raised from UTG, Alfonso Amendola called from the button, and Jarred Solomon made the call as well from the big blind. The flop came {J-Hearts}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Solomon checked, Idema bet, Amendola called, then Solomon raised. Idema made it three small bets, Amendola got out, and Solomon called.

"Big pot," said Michael Santoro, as the dealer dealt the {Q-Hearts} turn. Solomon checked, Idema made the big bet, and Solomon called.

The river was the {7-Diamonds}. Again, Solomon check-called Idema's bet. Solomon showed {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, and slapped the table when he saw Idema's {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. His nines were good, and he claimed the big pot.

Solomon chips up to 670,000, while Idema slips to 140,000.

Finne Falling, Then Rising

Steven Kelly raised from the cutoff and was called by Timothy Finne in the big blind. The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and Finne check-called a bet from Kelly. The river was the {6-Clubs} and Finne again check-called Kelly's bet.

Kelly tabled {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, winning the pot and upping his stack to about 270,000. Finne is down to about 120,000.

The next hand, he and Gavin Smith tangled on a board that read {7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. Finne bet and Smith called, leading to the {6-Diamonds} turn. Finne's bet was again called by Smith and both checked the {J-Spades} river. Finne flipped over {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Smith could not beat it. Finne bumped his stack to 180,000 while Smith slipped to 620,000.

Smith Makes the Call, Takes the Lead

With the board showing {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, Danny Hannawa had pushed out a bet of 120,000 -- about the size of the pot -- and Gavin Smith was in the tank contemplating a big call.

After a minute or so, Smith noted "I'm not thinking of folding." Finally he made the call. "You got it," said Hannawa immediately after, even before Smith showed his hand -- {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

Smith dragged the large pot and now appears to be the new chip leader with 745,000. Meanwhile, Hannawa slips back to 380,000.

The board came down {9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} as Rosen hit the river to double up to about 300,000. Hannawa dropped to about 580,000.

Limit Adventures with Gavin

Gavin Smith has been active during the limit round. First came a hand in which Danny Hannawa raised from the cutoff, Smith called from the button, Jamie Rosen three-bet from the big blind, and both Hannawa and Smith called.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Rosen bet, Hannawa folded, and Smith called. The turn was the {10-Hearts}, and Smith again called Rosen's bet.

The river was the {7-Clubs}. This time Rosen checked, Smith bet, and Rosen called. Smith showed {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for two pair, and Rosen mucked. Rosen slipped further to 175,000 on that one

Then came a hand between Smith and Steve Kelly in which the pair bet all of the way through a {7-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} board enough to put Kelly all in by fifth street. Kelly showed {J-Spades}{10-Clubs} at the end for the straight, while Smith looked like he flashed {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} as he mucked.

Smith fell to 560,000 after that one, while Kelly survived with 235,000.

Short-Stacked Kelly Survives

Steven Kelly was just able to double through Danny Hannawa in a battle of the blinds after Kelly got his chips in on a {7-Hearts}{8-Spades}{A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} board. Kelly held {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Hannawa had {7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}.

The river was the {K-Clubs} and Kelly doubled, but is still on the short side with 110,000. Hannawa is sitting comfortably with 620,000.

Smith Chipping Up

Gavin Smith raised to 15,500 on the button and Timothy Finne called from the big blind. The flop came down {3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and both checked. The {Q-Clubs} hit the turn and both checked again.

The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Finne bet 23,500. Smith popped it to 66,000 and Finne made the call, mucking his hand when Smith tabled {J-Spades}{10-Clubs} for trips.

Smith: Up to 460,000
Finne, Down to 180,000
