Event #44: $2,500 Mixed Hold'em

Smith Doubles Through Rosen

The board came down {3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}, safe for Smith. He is up to about to 370,000 while Rosen drops to about 280,000.

Jonathan Tamayo Eliminated in 12th Place ($16,663)

Jonathan Tamayo - 12th place

Danny Hannawa limped in from the button, and Gavin Smith completed from the small blind. Then Jonathan Tamayo shoved all in for his last 69,000. Hannawa called, and Smith got out.

Tamayo showed {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Hoping for a race, but unfortunately for him Hannawa had {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. The flop came {6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{J-Spades}. The turn was the {4-Spades}, giving Hannawa a set but a straight possibility as well for Tamayo. But the river was the {A-Hearts}, and Tamayo is out.

Hannawa increases his chip lead, moving up to 674,000.

Hannawa Takes One Down

Timothy Finne raised to 13,500 in the cutoff and was called by Steven Kelly in the small blind and Danny Hannawa in the big blind.

The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and all three opted to check. The {Q-Spades} fell on the turn and once again it was checked around. The river was the {5-Spades} and it was checked to Hannawa. He bet 36,500 and forced a fold from Finne. Kelly, though, raised it to 80,000.

Hannawa called and Kelly immediately threw his hand into muck. Hannawa showed {9-Spades}{7-Spades} and chipped up to about 575,000. Kelly slipped to about 210,000.

Break it Down

That's another two levels behind us, and we're on a twenty-minute break.

Back in a flash.

Valdemar Kwaysser Eliminated in 13th Place ($13,200)

Valdemar Kwaysser - 13th place
Valdemar Kwaysser - 13th place

Valdemar Kwaysser was all in preflop with {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} and Steven Kelly was looking for the knockout with {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts}.

Board: {3-Clubs} {10-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}

That's not going to get it done for Kwaysser, and he's out of chances. There's a shiny new bracelet in his room safe from his victory in Event #38, and this event ends with another deep run just a few days later. It's over in 13th place, though, good for a small payday and another WSOP cash to go on the record.

Cap, Check, Check, Check

Danny Hannawa

Jamie Rosen opened by raising from the button, Steven Kelly three-bet from the small blind, then Danny Hannawa made it four bets from the big blind. Rosen capped it, Kelly folded, and Hannawa made the call.

Hannawa and Rosen then checked down the {5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, the {7-Spades} turn, and the {J-Spades} river. Hannawa showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and Rosen turned over {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}.

Rosen takes the pot and now has 545,000, just behind Hannawa who leads with 550,000.

Kenny Hsiung Eliminated in 14th Place ($13,200)

Kenny Hsiung - 14th place

Blind versus blind, Kenny Hsiung raised from the small and then called Jamie Rosen's three-bet in the big.

The flop came {4-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}, Hsiung bet, Rosen raised, and Hsiung got himself all in for his last 25,500. He was drawing very live with {K-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} against Rosen's {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. Hsiung spiked his {K-Diamonds} on the turn to pull into a brief lead, but the {10-Spades} river gave the pot to Rosen's Broadway straight.

That's it for Kenny Hsiung tonight, eliminated in 14th place.

Hsiung Not Doing Well

Kenny Hsiung raised under the gun, and Danny Hannawa was the only caller, in position and heads-up to the flop.

It came {Q-Spades} {3-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}, Hsiung bet, Hannawa raised, and Hsiung called.

Hsiung led back out on the {K-Diamonds} turn, and he got another bet in on the {A-Hearts} river. Hannawa called both bets, and he showed up {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}. Aces up was better than Hsiung's {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs} and kings up, and that loss knocks Hsiung all the way down to just a few bets with 67,500 chips.
