Event #6: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout

Bellande Chops

Jean-Robert Bellande entered the pot with a raise to 300 and found a caller on the button to see a {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop fall.

Bellande check-called 350 before the {Q-Clubs} landed on the turn and he check-called a 450-chip bet.

Both players checked down the {8-Hearts} on the river and Bellande tabled his {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a busted flush-draw and two-pair. However his opponent tabled the same hand - {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} - and happily chopped up the pot with roller-coaster high stakes player.

Adams Chips Up

With the board reading {K-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, a player in the big blind checked to Brandon Adams who bet 700. Both Josh Tieman and the player in the big blind called.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and again the big blind checked. This time Adams bet 2,400 and only Tieman called.

The {10-Spades} was dealt on the river and Adams led for 7,000. Tieman folded, and Adams chipped up to 23,500.

As Adams raked in the pot, a new player arrived at the table; Tony G.

Seif Busts Set Over Set

The board read {K-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades} when an opponent bet 1,225 into Mark Seif. Seif check-raised to 3,500 more and his opponent called.

The {6-Hearts} paired the board on the turn and Seif moved all-in for 3,950. His opponent quickly called and the hands were opened:

Seif: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The river was a meaningless {3-Diamonds} and Seif was eliminated from the tournament.

More Seat Assignment Problems

Going along with the Two Players, One Seat post a little while ago, there was another incident involving seating assignments over on Jeffrey Lisandro's table.

Chris Bjorin just ran his pocket nines into pocket kings to bust from the table, leaving them eight handed. A minute or so after Bjorin made his exit to the rail, the floor staff came over with a new player to be added to the table. Lisandro and a few others at the table didn't take too much of a liking to this, stating that because it's a shootout format, a new player shouldn't be added to the table. According the the new player, he was seated at another table for the first part of this event until someone came over and had the same seat as him. The player was then moved to Lisandro's table. The argument failed to work and the player sat down and was given a brand new stack of chips before play resumed.

Ferguson Finds Aces To Double

Chris Ferguson is yet another player to find an early double up.

Holding {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}, Ferguson was all in on a flop of {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} against an opponent holding {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

The {6-Spades} on the turn changed little, and when the {K-Spades} fell on the river, Ferguson doubled through to over 36,000 while crippling his opponent in the process.

Quick Exit for Daneshgar

David Daneshgar was just bounced from the tournament.

On a {4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop, Daneshgar check-raised an opponent on the button to 1,800 and the bet was called. The turn brought the {9-Spades} and Daneshgar led for 2,800. His opponent called.

The river was the {A-Clubs} and Daneshgar moved all-in for 5,100. His opponent quickly called and tabled {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} for a rivered set of aces. Daneshgar mucked and hit the rail.

Adios Amnon

On a board reading {J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} Amnon Filippi fired out a bet of 2,600 only to have Eric Froehlich drop in a stack to effectively put Filippi all in.

Filippi made the call tabling his {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} to be trailing Froehlich's {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, and when the fourth diamond didn't peel on the river, Filippi hit the rail as Froehlich doubled through.

Two Players, One Seat

Andy Bloch has been sitting at Seat 5 at Table 3 for an orbit or so and just moments ago Jean-Robert Bellande showed up intending to sit in the same exact sheet.

"It's a match!" Bellande shouted when he held his receipt next to Bloch's.

Indeed the computer had printed the same seat for both of them. The table began joking about the situation, saying that the two should switch every orbit.

"No, no, no," Darryll "DFish" Fish argued. "Two rounds for Bobby, one for Andy."

The situation has since been fixed, and Bellande is situated at a new table.

Smith Gets Early Boost

Catching the action on a flop of {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades} we found Justin 'Boosted J' Smith all in holding {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} against his opponent's {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

The turn and river blanked out with the {Q-Clubs} and {2-Hearts} to see Smith double through to just under 29,000 while leaving his opponent in dire straights with just 825 in chips.
