Event #57: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Championship

Costner Departs

Gabe Costner

Gabe Costner looked for a moment like he might be pushing toward the chip lead and control of this Main Event with about 50 or so players left. A few untimely cards and lost pots later, and he was down to 1.175 million chips when he moved all in with {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}. Scott Clements looked him up with {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}, and Costner was looking good to double.

There was an ace on the flop, though, and the board of {A-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {4-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} was just all around unkind to Costner. It's his fourth cash this year at the WSOP, and this latest score moves him up over $1,000,000 in career earnings. His first bracelet will have to wait for now though; Costner is out in 35th place.

Clements is now on 6 million, give or take. He's still stacking.
