Event #49: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em

"You Out-Kicked Me"

After a flop of {K-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, Scott Freeman checked and Liv Boeree bet 2,200. Freeman called and then both players checked the {Q-Spades} on the turn.

Again, Freeman checked when the {5-Hearts} came on the river. Boeree bet 2,300 and Freeman made the call. Boeree showed {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} which was good enough to take down the pot.

"You out-kicked me," Freeman explained after the hand.

Ryan Opts to Fold

Rich Ryan, beloved blogger for PokerNews, raised to 1,700 from middle position. The player on the button then reraised to 3,500, prompting both blinds to fold.

Action was back on Ryan pondered the call. One thing is for sure, Ryan has seen enough hands this WSOP to know when to play and when to fold. He decided this was a time to fold. Ryan is sitting with 21,000.

Ankenman Doubles

Following an under the gun raise, Jerrod Ankenman moved all in for 8,300 from the big blind.

His opponent made the call tabling {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} to be in a race against Ankenman's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}.

Fortunately for Ankenman the board ran out {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{A-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} to see him double through to 17,700 in chips.

Break Time

The remaining players are heading on their last 20-minute break for the evening.

Pham Applies Pressure

There was about 17,000 in the pot with a board reading {2-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts} when David "The Dragon" Pham bet 4,900. His sole opponent in Seat 4 went into the tank. Pham gave away little to know information as he sat motionless.

Seat 4 eventually made the call, a bit reluctantly, and turned over {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. It was no good though, Pham held {A-Spades}{7-Spades} for a bigger two pair. Pham is now up to 46,000.

Kelly Wins a Monster Pot

JP Kelly, who had a large stack, was all in preflop with {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} against the {A-}{Q-} of another big stack. The pot was somewhere in the vicinity 70,000.

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Kelly doubled and now has a monster stack, possibly the biggest in the room.
