Event #17: $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Championship

Dress Down Farha

• Level 10: 400-800, 100 ante

Sam Farha has been sitting quietly all day in contrast to his flashy loud mouthed image that is usually portrayed on TV. Dressed casually in sportswear with earphones plugged in and no sign of his trademark unlit cigarette dangling from his lips he strikes an unassuming figure today.

Farha joined four limper to see a flop of {5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{8-Spades} and it was checked around. The turn brought the {6-Diamonds} and seat one bet 2,000. Farha was the only caller. The river was the {4-Clubs} and after a pause the seat one bet another 8,000.

Farha flashed a familiar wolfish grin and moved all in for about 8,000 and was called. Seat one showed {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for a straight and Farha matched him with {7-Spades}{6-Clubs}. “Nice hand Sir.” seat one said as the dealer chopped it up.

On the next hand there was an all-in from early position and Farha put his stack forward too from the cut-off. Farha had {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and was facing the {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

The board ran out {k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Farha had a double up.

Duthie Done and Dusted

[user38873] • Level 10: 400-800, 100 ante

We have lost John Duthie in pretty much two hands. First he had to fold against a river all in from Richard Duthie after a {10-}{9-}{8-} flop with two diamonds brought two further diamonds. With 10,000 left, Duthie was all in with {A-}{7-} versus pocket jacks and another jack showed up immediately on the flop.

Sorry 'Bout That

[user38873] • Level 10: 400-800, 100 ante

Donna Rosenthal had her stacks in 25s instead of 20s in the last level before the color up and that resulted in a stack of 70,000 and not 50,000 as previously reported. One opponent on the table joked "She is from Kentucky, she can't count," and Rosenthal laughed. Anyways, she just raised to 1,600 and had to call an all in for less than 2,000 more with {Q-Spades}{5-Clubs}. The short stack in the big blind only had {J-Spades}{5-Spades} but found a jack on the flop.

Last Break of the Day

• Level 9: 300-600, 75 ante

A quick twenty-minute break and then we are back to report on the last two one hour levels before play finishes for the night.

Domination No More

[user38873] • Level 9: 300-600, 75 ante

Mosh Bouskila has been on a slippery rode as of lately, just now he three-bet out of the big blind and called the four-bet to 6,300 from the initial raiser. On the {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop, he checked and then folded towards an all in worth 9,350. His previous stack is pretty much cut in half and that brings him on par with two other well known names on nearby tables.

Phillips Survives

• Level 9: 300-600, 75 ante
Dennis Phillips
Dennis Phillips

Dennis Phillips was getting desperately short on chips and with a few limper he too limoed along on the button. Phillips was raking up his green 25 chips for the colour up at the break as the flop came down {k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. A player bet 1,200 and Phillips moved all in for 6,250. The big blind who had checked made the call and the bettor folded.

Phillips admitted he needed help and turned over {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. He did as he was against {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}.

Help is is what he got as the turn {7-Spades} bricked but he got the {5-Diamonds} on the river.
